Winter skincare: my daily routine

I wrote about my three skincare hero products back in the autumn, but I thought I’d update you on the winter skincare products I’m using in my daily routine.

From left to right:

Elemis Rehydrating Rosepetal Cleanser* – At the moment Elemis are doing their full-size (200ml) cleansers with a FREE full size (200ml) toner. How brilliant is that? I have been using the ‘revitalise & replenish’ duo for ten days now and *love* how a simple switch in my cleansing routine has completely cured my winter skin problems (dry, flaky cheekbones, super oily T-zone and dull complexion). The rosepetal cleanser smells gorgeous, like Turkish Delight, I slather it on with clean fingertips, working all over my face and neck to dissolve the day’s make-up and grime, then tissue off the excess. For already dehydrated winter skin, I think a cleansing wash can sometimes exacerbate the depleted moisture level problem. I love how soft this leaves my skin and I was surprised at how efficient it was at removing all traces of make-up. I’d always eschewed ‘milk’ style cleansers in favour of a good wash as I was convinced they didn’t remove make-up as well but I was wrong.

Elemis Rehydrating Ginseng Toner* I think the cleansers efficiency at retaining my skin’s natural oil/moisture levels (ergo barrier to winter battering) is the fact it is used in conjunction with this brilliant toner. I know, toner – so 80s right? Wrong. This is alcohol-free so no squeaky skin; it regulates your skin’s pH levels and ensures it is a completely blank canvas for serum/moisturiser to sink straight in.

L’Oreal eye and lip make-up remover – I have super-sensitive eyes and this two-phase, non-greasy remover gets rid of all my layers of liner/mascara without leaving my eyes stinging or dry. It effectively removes my beloved bold, bright lippies, too.

Astalift Jelly Aquarysta – you can read my full review here – I use this in place of a serum, it is my second pot and I can’t imagine ever giving it up. My skin is soooo much more even, clearer and brighter. Love, love, love it.

Clarins beauty flash balmagain, you can read my review here but suffice to say this is a perennial favourite on my dressing table. I pat just a little over cheekbones as a final, dewy layer when I’m going make-up free to give my winter skin some much needed oomph.

At the front:

Murad Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture for Eyes – I got this tiny sample in this month’s Glossybox. It’s slightly thicker than my usual choice of eye cream (Estee Lauder Advanced Repair Eye) but so far seems to be plumping, super moisturing and softening around tight, dry eyes.

Lanolips 101 treatment balm* – I’m not shy to say I used this medical-grade lanolin balm religiously when breastfeeding to keep my nipples in tip-top form. You’ll be pleased to know readers that my nipples are safe from cracking and chapping now but alas my lips, knuckles and heels are not. So, here it is. Near my bed so I remember to slather a thick layer on before bed. If you hate the herbal smell of Elizabeth Arden’s 8-hour cream then this is the one for you. I use it on Country Bebe’s cuts and grazes, too.

I’d love to hear what you are using over winter, or if you change your skincare regime at all depending on the seasons? I’m always looking for idea and tweaks to my own routine!
