Bastille performing Pompeii at the British Museum

On the 26th March the British Museum felt the ‘serendipity was too fitting to ignore’ and invited the band Bastille to perform their no. 1 single Pompeii at the museum, to celebrate the launch of their exhibition ‘Life and Death in Pompeii and Herculaneum’.

Firstly, props to the BM for eschewing the dusty approach to exhibition promotion and simultaneously appearing relevant, modern and engaged with the current zeitgeist. Secondly to Bastille, I thought the success of their hit single lay in its catchy percussion, until I heard this genius accoustic version. If this doesn’t get you toe tapping under your desk this lunchtime, nothing will.

P.s. Have you seen this equally brilliant acoustic cover by Passenger and Ed Sheeran?
