30-second review: Burberry SS13 look – English Rose

*Sigh*. Edie Campbell is my #1 beauty girl crush at the moment. Don’t get me wrong, Cara Delevingne and Karlie Kloss are right up there but Edie is the gal for me. The heavy fringe, those sad eyes and this season, her oh so perfect, barely there make-up campaign, courtesy of Burberry Beauty.

The English Rose look is all about sheer, fresh nude rose shades. You know the ones that add a little flush of health to the cheeks and a veil of rosy colour to the lips. The clever formulas that layer beautifully and the pigments that simply enhance your skin’s natural palette? Yep, this collection has all that by the bucketload.

This is the Lip Mist in Field Rose from the collection. Unlike the Lip Covers they offer a glossier, sheerer (but buildable) coverage that smells deliciously of Parma Violets.

This is the perfect foil to my other fav lippie of the moment, Burberry Beauty’s Union Red:

You can see the Union Red is a lot heavier on the pigment whilst the Field Rose is much more a veil of sheer colour – both ends of the lippie spectrum sorted.

An incidental aside, but I love the luxe, graphite packaging with the satisfying magnetic close, embossed with the Burberry check. The references to the brand’s heritage continue as the outer packaging echoes in its cream, grainy texture the classic Burberry trench. Small things yes, but it just goes to show Christopher Bailey’s strong creative direction, that filters through into every aspect of the brand. Love it.

Union Red Lip Cover and Field Rose Lip Mist are both £22.50 at burberry.com
