Object of Desire: Evermore London Candles

My enduring candle obsession is well documented on Countryfille – from interviewing Neom founder, Nicole Elliott, to reviews of my favourite scents from the big hitters and indie brands. I bloody love a mantle-piece/dining table/nightstand heaving with beautiful scented candlelight.

This month’s Object of Desire is my latest find that I couldn’t keep to myself, as from your excitable DMs I know you’re partial to a luxe candle too; as someone who works in branding for a living I landed on their website and immediately got *the feels*.

Evermore London

The gloss black glass (so much more decadent than sterile white); the gold leaf etched lettering.. SO DAMN GOOD. And that’s before we get to the scents…

I always think buying candles/fragrance/things you need to sniff online is impossible. However great the copywriter there is no substitute for that olfactory reaction – it’s either earth-movingly YES or it’s a meh (at worse an adversion – cheap vanilla, bleugh). Yet in a considered, reassuringly authoratively tone, Evermore evoke their fragrances so beautifully, you are transported to the coasts, forests and verdant gardens via their beautiful web pages…

Here are my favourite three – I’ll let you know how they burn…

Moon (main pic)

It was the Moon candle that drew me in – rose doesn’t usually float my boat, but add in spicy hints of saffron over a smoky base of vertivert and cade and I’m ready. I love the way each candle description comes with beautiful etchings to illustrate the notes

North

One of my all-time favourite fragrances is Diptyque Volutes and my fav candle of all-time is probably Tom Ford Oud Wood (or Tuscan Leather, don’t make me choose) – basically leather, oud, tobacco – I’M THERE. North has top notes of black pepper and cinnamon married with a mysterious base of oud, maple and tobacco. HELLO AUTUMN.

Grove

A healer once told me after my parents died that spending time in pine forests is very healing – I walk the dog each day through a mix of beech and pine forests and whether it’s the trees, the quiet, the solitude or the fresh air – I have to agree. Which is probably why the Grove candle speaks to me – notes of pine needle, eucalyptus and silver fir are warmed with a base note of earthy moss. Comfort in a sniff.
