lara quin candle review

Sunday small brand love: Lara Quin

My monthly spend on ‘fancy candles’ (as my husband calls them) is OBSCENE. In my defence, I have been heavily led astray by my previous career as a beauty editor – I’ve been woo’d at press days by the likes of Diptyque (Feu de Bois),  This Works (neroli and ginger) and Neom’s genius skin treatment candle that I swore by in pregnancy. Not to forget the candle I would happy exchange a kidney for (and would need to, to be able to afford one) – the Tom Ford White Suede. I wrote about my love of the matching perfume here a whole 6 years ago and the ardor still stands.

My latest candle addiction is British home fragrance brand – Lara Quin* (you can read the beautiful brand story here).

The ‘Spa inspired’, Sonora Sunrise candle is a blend of Eucalyptus, Lavender, Geranium and Peppermint – the key note being the peppermint which keeps it the botanical side of floral.

The quirk with Lara Quin candles is that the soy wax is infused with crystal essence; in this case Sonora Sunrise, which has the healing properties to ‘evoke hope, love & courage for new beginnings’. Whether you’re a ‘believer’ or not, you can’t fail to feel the love and attention hand poured by Jess into each of her creations. From the immaculate rose gold and dove grey gift-wrapping that comes as standard, to the gorgeous almost perfume, quality scent profiles. I love the sound of the Smoky Quartz and Himalayan Cedar (with bergamot, jasmine and neroli) and I’m a complete sucker for a fig and cassis number, too.

It’s no exaggeration that I could smell this beauty through the packaging as the postman handed it over – that’s the benchmark of a stellar candle in my book, one that you can smell from 20 paces, without it even being lit.

When this beauty is lit it is GLORIOUS. I’ve noticed it burns slower than my other candles, too (average burn time 55-60 hours) and the scent lingers till the next morning, too…

Details: Sonora Sunrise candle, £30 with free P&P, burn time 55-60 hours.

*Full disclaimer: Lara Quin is one of my clients at my branding and creative content consultancy – this is my personal blog and there is no obligation or payment attached to me featuring them on countryfille.com and I paid for my candle in full.
