Just as I was settling in to my ‘al fresco office’ (aka under the parasol on the terrace) to enjoy another cloud-less summer’s day, this email landed in my inbox and immediately had me hankering after smoky, grey autumn days, conkers, bonfires, misty mornings, damp earth and fallen leaves…
Diptyque have announced their new autumn fragrances: Genevrier (Juniper) and Noisetier (Hazelnut Tree). In inimitable Diptyque style they have distilled the essence of the season, yet avoided all the usual autumn/winter olfactory cliches: orange, spicy, musks etc.
The cool green of the conifer wood from the Juniper, versus the dry, fertile nut harvest of the Hazelnut Tree. My mind is immediately thinking about what I’d pair them with in my current Diptyque collection: Perhaps the Noisetier with the classic Feu de Bois (woodfire) for a ‘chestnuts roasting on an open fire’ vibe, or the Genevrier with the gorgeous Mousses (moss) for a real woodland hit… *immediately goes winter coat shopping*
