Object of desire: DELTA silk cushions from Banke Kuku

On a dreary Monday morning these stunning silk cushions burst into my inbox and I was immediately intrigued, and smitten.

Designed by Central St. Martins alumni, textile designer Banke Kuku, the bold prints reference her African heritage (Banke moved to the UK from Nigeria, aged 8) but with a nod to a modern, luxury Western aesthetic – she has described her designs as being ‘traditional African with Western inspiration’. I love the organic, swirling watercolour prints above (don’t they remind you of making marbled paper as a child?) and the bold, jewel-coloured geometric designs.

I like updating the key, heirloom pieces in our home with playful, current accessories as a less drastic (and expensive!) way of giving each room a ‘makeover’. These gorgeous cushions would be the perfect spring update for our sofa. Joy in technicolour form.

DELTA range of silk cushions. Small cushions £69, Medium £120 and Large £335.
