CF Gadgets: Kobo Glo ereader

So, I’ve been sent this little puppy to take on my summer hols to Cornwall with me next week. It’s the Glo reader from Kobo, an ereader company I hadn’t heard of before – I have been of the ‘books must be in paper-form’ until now – but this little tablet looks promising.

I *have* tried to read novels on my iPad but get cramp after a few chapters as the thing is so unwieldy, plus staring at a computer screen isn’t great when trying to switch off before bed.

The Kobo Glo is literally lighter than our TV remote, which I hadn’t expected, there are over 3million books in the store and I am already hooked on the immediacy of being able to read any book I want, instantly.

The reason I picked the Kobo Glo out of their range is the fact it is billed as having the most even, eye-friendly reading light, dubbed the ComfortLight, perfect for me as a nocturnal book-devourer.

I will let you know next week how well it fairs in varying light levels and how easy it is to navigate and function.

So far I’ve downloaded to take on holiday:

Gemma Burgess, Brooklyn Girls – *best friend plug alert* – I’m allowed to plug Gemma’s books because I adored her first two bestselling novels before we became mates. This is the first in her new series in The States and I can’t wait for a dose of her intelligent, modern girl’s take on life. It’s like a (very drunk) conversation with your best girlfriends. Highly recommended.

Gillian Flynn, Gone Girl – simply because I feel like the only person in the UK *not* to have read this.

Rachel Johnson, Shire Hell – an oldie but one I never got to read in paperback. The follow up to Notting Hell, that I loved, and all about moving from W11 to the shires, so thought it might be rather apt!
