CF weekend: in photos

Hello! Brrrr! and Phew! That pretty much sums up our weekend at Countryfille HQ.

We headed into Exeter on Sunday, to the annual Christmas Fair in the shadows of the Cathedral on the cobbled ‘green’. It’s my favourite quarter of Exeter, with its narrow lanes, beautiful mix of Tudor and Georgian buildings and fantastic restaurants (Michelin-starred Michael Caines has a place here that I’m dying to try out).

The ratio of food stalls to gifts was around 5:1, from the ubiquitous hog roast to amazing Tartiflette (creamy slices potatoes with pepper, onion, ham and Reblochon cheese) as well as these rather anti-social but utterly delicious garlicky mushrooms:

With Michael Buble blaring out the ol’ standards and a mug of local mulled cider in my mittened hand, even the almost sub-zero temperatures couldn’t fend off that Christmas glow. I just need to start shopping now!

Before heading home to thaw out we couldn’t resist this merino wool knitted suit from Gap for Country Bebe to wear on Christmas Day – the baby equivalent of the Novelty Sweater.

The other highlight of the weekend has to be….drum roll please… after two whole years, I have finished my first ever bit of tapestry:

Yes, I know. 20cm x 20cm in 2 years is more than a bit slow, but having a baby does rather eat into your ‘crafting schedule’ some what. I am ridiculously proud of this little lavender filled pillow and as such, have just ordered this beautiful, modern design from Emily Peacock.

Love tapestry cushion, from £54.99, emilypeacock.com

I would say watch this space but it could be 2020 before this beauty is furnishing my sofa.

And so another week begins…
