Dip dyed hair: the results

So, I have purple hair. It’s only just sinking in.

Here I am yesterday, pre-appointment with just your average brown mop.

I had this shot firmly pinned to my Pinterest board to show my stylist the deep violet hues I wanted on my tips:

First up we had to lighten the tips so the violet would show up on my dark chestnut hair. Bleach was roughly worked into the ends to give a blended, gradual effect rather than a harsh straight line:

Here it is post-lightening. I kinda liked it like this:

Next up, the violet went on by the same method, roughly worked into the tips to give that ombre, fade in look.

And here it is, not a great shot but it really is quite subtle so trying to catch it in the right light is tricky:

I am soooo happy with it. I love it. I styled it myself this morning for the first time and went for a sleek blow-out with plenty of Gielly Green Argan Rescue (my #1 hair hero product) to soften those processed ends.

I’ll update this post this week with a few more styles I have in mind, like a fishtail plait with the purple ends loose and a high ponytail tied at the purple/brown divide.

It’s safe to say I’m hooked on the dip dye trend; I’m already planning my next colour session – perhaps dipping a really, really pale lilac just on the bottom 2 inches for a three shade effect?

Details: I had my hair dip dyed by the lovely Zoe at Element Creative Hair, Sidmouth at the cost of £65.
