Estee Lauder’s Heavy Petals nail lacquer collection – swatched

How pretty are these nail lacquers from Estee Lauder for spring? The ‘Heavy Petals’ collection are like dipping your fingers in a box of macaroons, with a bit of added pigment punch.

I love that the colours they’ve gone for are quirky and a departure from the generic wishy-washy pastels that seem to pop up routinely every March. Immediately I think the coral in the middle will be the stand-out shade from the collection, such a wearable, flattering colour on all skin tones.

I was kindly sent a selection to try out for myself:

I had a manicure with Essie’s gel system Artistic a couple of days ago (an auberginey, mushroom should you care) so couldn’t swatch on my fingers, but here are the colours close up:

Do you know what? The Absinthe green is actually my favourite. I never thought it would be but I’m imagining it on darker skin (as opposed to my alabaster Celtic hue) and it would look stunning.

The Lilac Leather is going to be my spring pedi staple and I think the blue could work with a serious tan come summer.

As an aside, I have a soft-spot for Estee Lauder polishes since they won me over with their Michael Kors ‘Very Hollywood’ collaboration in 2010 where I found my nail Holy Grail. The ultimate nude – Hollywood Gold (I found a swatch in British Beauty Blogger’s incredible archive). Sigh. I also love their shorter brush for better control and reliably dense pigment for good, even coverage.

Which colour would you wear?

The polishes are limited edition, available on counter now at £14.50.
