Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas one and all. The last few festive days have past by in a flu-filled blur, I had many posts planned but I have pretty much slept through Christmas. That said, we’ve had a cracking time, holed up at the in-laws in Somerset.

Here are a couple of snaps that sum up the last few days, I’ll leave you to your turkey leftovers and Quality Street rejects (always the strawberry creams in our house) and re-commence with regular posts in the New Year when I am germ-free.

Our tree, back in Devon. This is Country Bebe’s second Christmas and we have started a new family tradition of buying him a new decoration each year. The wooden sailor (mid tree) is this year’s addition.

I have always adored the chocolatiers, Rococo, on Motcomb Street (and now elsewhere in Central London) – their Earl Grey Thins are BEYOND. My new favourite? Gin and lemon truffles. I’ve decided on the calorie-front this year to try and go for quality rather than quantity – so a couple of amazing, handmade truffles over half a kilo of Quality Streets.

It’s as if my mother-in-law knew. On Christmas morning, feverish and achey, I unwrapped this glorious pair of emerald green silk pyjamas with white piping. I lay in this position, with a snoring labrador at my feet, for the rest of the holidays. They are utter indulgent bliss.

A gratuitous shot of Country Bebe in his Christmas Onesie, stood on the coffee table for a better vantage point of the comings and goings in the village (namely horses and tractors).

And the best bit? My very own, shiny, all singing-all dancing, Gaggia Baby Class coffee machine. For this coffee-snob/addict it is a dream come true. I’m still trying to get to grips with it, and the accompanying Krups burr coffee grinder, but I’ll do a full post as soon as I’ve achieved the perfect crema.

That’s all for now, I hope you’ve all had great Christmases – restful and full of love. I’d also like to take the chance to say thank you for stopping by and reading countryfille.com – this year has been incredible for the site and I’m so excited about what 2013 holds! See you then xx
