My new-found nibble – the Graze box subscription

I have a rather unhealthy cure for writer’s block. Eating. It started at uni; if I came a cropper mid-way through an essay on Baudelaire (and let’s be honest, who hasn’t?) I’d amble up to the communal kitchen, make a piece of toast and munch my way out of the 19th century poetry fog.

Even now, a decade on, as a freelancer based largely at home, things haven’t improved. I have been known to pace the garden, packet of jammy dodgers in hand, contemplation how to start a 1,000 word article on kale.

I am at peace with the fact that feeding my tummy helps keep the cogs turning but if I’m ever going to a/ ever get any work done b/ emerge from my desk with my figure intact, I need a snack rethink.

Ta dah! The Graze healthy snack subscription box. Sign up, decide which of the 100 healthy snacks you like the look of (think marinated olives, nuts and seeds, gourmet popcorn and healthy twists on traybake cakes and flapjacks) and you’ll get them delivered to home, or work.

Here’s what was inside my sample box:

Clockwise from top left:

Tomato dipinetti: rosemary breadsticks with a sticky, garlicky tomato dip.

My favourite: Eleanor’s apple crumble. Dried apple, raisins and almonds with a moreish honey, cinnamon glaze.

Sticky chocolate pudding: A genius combo of green and black raisins with just enough milk chocolate to satisfy a sweet tooth at only 17okcal.

Finally, a moist, dainty square of lemon and poppyseed cake that even came with a teabag for a ready-made afternoon tea fix.

I stored the Graze box in my desk and it kept me rooted to my seat all week, I had instant, interesting, healthy treats at my fingertips to munch on… now I’ve just to come up with the ‘perfect 101 kale recipes’ and I’m sorted.

All Graze boxes are £3.89. www.graze.com
